Every time I give this song a listen it keeps reminding me of an old Chinese folk song that I heard when I was young. Chinese folk songs are all about telling stories… either they are about the writer’s travels or about the crops not growing (I’m serious).
Obviously, this is not a Chinese folk song. This song is written by a Syrian born, New York singer songwriter, and it is a eulogy for the lost love and heartbreak influenced by South American music. I guess why it reminds me of the old Chinese folk song is because how personal the song is to the songwriter.
Some of you might enjoy the sad melancholic melody while some of you might not, it is all down to preferences. But I will say it is a well written song and personally, I dig the melody… I think it goes well with the lyrics.
